Project overview
When BSACI, a charitable organisation based in Battersea, contacted The Shutter Studio through a recommendation from a previous customer, they were looking for an effective way to improve comfort and light control within their office. Their workspace, located just outside Battersea Park Station, features beautiful large windows that bring in an amazing amount of natural light. While this created a bright and welcoming environment, it can also result in excessive heat and glare during the warmer months.
After our team visited the office and discussed our product range and solutions with our main contact, Sandie, we recommended our premium UK-made Tier-on-Tier shutters. This solution would provide the perfect combination of light control, privacy, durability and timeless style.
About the project
Situated just outside Battersea Park Station and local to the iconic Battersea Power Station, BSACI’s office is in one of London’s most recognisable and fast-growing areas. Battersea has become renowned for its mix of historic architecture, modern office spaces and regenerated developments, making it a popular location for businesses and homeowners alike.
For commercial spaces like this, shutters offer an excellent tidy and long-term solution. Unlike blinds or curtains, shutters become a permanent feature of the building, providing exceptional durability, improved insulation and excellent control over natural light. They also complement both contemporary and traditional interiors, making them a popular choice for properties across Battersea and the surrounding areas. After assessing the space, we recommended our UK-made Tier-on-Tier shutters.
The solution: Tier-on-tier shutters
The ideal choice for this particular office was our UK-made Tier-on-Tier shutters. Not only did the style align perfectly with the design of the windows, the tier-on-tier finish allows staff to have a balance of light and privacy if need be. Manufactured in the UK, they also offer a faster lead time which suits commercial projects who are on tighter time-scales.
The result is a practical solution that looks elegant while providing excellent day-to-day functionality.
Why we recommended UK-made wooden shutters
For this project, UK-made wooden shutters offer several advantages over our imported alternative, especially for commercial environments.
These include:
- Faster manufacturing and installation lead times – we offer one of the fastest lead times in the country for wooden shutters.
- Premium-quality craftsmanship – designed with a premium Basswood hardwood.
- Sustainably made – a more eco-friendly choice of wooden shutter.
- Outstanding durability, making them a long-term investment for the office.
- A timeless finish that complements both traditional and modern commercial spaces.
For a busy office environment, investing in a product built to last was an important consideration.
The finished result for BSACI
The completed installation has transformed the office environment. The shutters now provide effective control over sunlight throughout the day, helping to reduce glare on screens and create a more comfortable workspace during the warmer months.
The clean lines of the Tier-on-Tier shutters perfectly suit the large windows and their natural split design. The UK-made Basswood offers a premium finish and adds to the professional look of an office environment.
Working with Sandie and the team at BSACI was a pleasure from start to finish. We find working with commercial businesses and organisations rewarding – helping create more comfortable, practical workspaces.
