Our recent customers embarked on an ambitious renovation of their 1920s four-bedroom home in Sevenoaks. With only moving into the property in summer 2024, they have transformed every room from the ground up, blending modern design with the home’s original character. With beautiful bedrooms, welcoming dining and kitchen areas, and thoughtful touches throughout, the property is now the perfect space for hosting family and friends.
Project background
The Shutter Studio was first contacted in Spring 2024, just as the couple were finalising their renovation plans. Over several visits to the property during different stages of the work, we collaborated closely with them to ensure the shutters complemented each room’s design and the overall home aesthetic. Some original windowsills were retained, giving the windows a unique character, while new windows were carefully measured and prepared for installation.
To achieve a clean, cohesive look throughout the house, we installed UK-made full-height, white shutters in the bedrooms and living spaces, premium Poly shutters in white for the kitchen and bathrooms and then some Tru-fit pleated blinds and a Flora Roman Blind for other doors and feature windows throughout the property.
The shutters help to maximise natural light while providing privacy where needed, and their neutral finish gives the homeowners complete flexibility to decorate each room in their preferred style and colour palette. The addition of Tru-Fit blinds on the patio doors introduces a sleek, modern touch — offering an effortless solution for both privacy and light control. Challenges and highlights
Working around a full-house renovation required careful planning and coordination. Each room presented its own considerations, from tiny dressing room windows to large living areas, but our team ensured that every shutter fit perfectly and enhanced the overall design. By retaining certain original features, we were able to maintain the character of the home while providing a fresh, stylish finish.
Results
The completed project features full-height shutters in every room, with our favourites being the bifold kitchen shutters, providing a relaxing seating area to enjoy a morning coffee. Our shutters give this home a consistent, elegant appearance from inside and out and highlight the property’s architectural character while offering practical benefits for daily living.
